\text{Total Package Value} = \text{Public Holiday Cash Pay} + \text{Alternative Holiday Value}Under the NZ Holidays Act 2003, employees who work on a public holiday must receive at least time-and-a-half (1.5x their relevant hourly rate) for all hours worked. If the holiday falls on an 'otherwise working day' for that employee, they also earn an Alternative Holiday (full paid day off in lieu), regardless of how many hours they worked.

Mondayisation happens when a public holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday. If the weekend is not an otherwise working day for the employee, the public holiday is transferred to the following Monday (or Tuesday). If the weekend is an otherwise working day for the employee, the holiday is observed on the actual calendar weekend day.
Yes! Under the Holidays Act 2003, if the public holiday fell on an otherwise working day, working even 1 or 2 hours entitles the employee to a full alternative holiday (a whole paid day off), valued at their relevant daily pay.
If the public holiday falls on an otherwise working day and the employee does not work, they must be paid their Relevant Daily Pay (RDP) for the day without taking any leave. If it is not an otherwise working day and they do not work, no payment is required.
