P(X = x_i) = 1 / N | Fisher-Yates: for i = N−1 down to 1: swap(A[i], A[rand(0..i)])The Random Picker, Raffle Draw, and Team Generator assign an exact uniform probability of 1/N to every item in a list of size N. For multi-winner draws and team partitioning, the unbiased Fisher-Yates (Knuth) shuffle permutation algorithm guarantees that list order never influences selection.
This calculator is built on deterministic mathematical and algorithmic models. Results are simulations for educational and estimation purposes and should not be used as official or legally binding records.
It is 100% fair—whether an entry is placed first, in the middle, or last has zero effect on its probability. The engine uses the mathematically unbiased Fisher-Yates permutation shuffle, ensuring every single item among N candidates holds an identical 100 / N percent chance.
In Random Picker mode, multi-winner selection operates as sampling without replacement: once a candidate is drawn as Winner #1, that entry cannot be drawn again in the same round. However, if you intentionally paste a participant's name on multiple separate lines, you can weight their ticket count accordingly.
After thoroughly shuffling all participants, the engine distributes members across teams using a Round-Robin dealing algorithm. For example, splitting 10 people into 3 teams guarantees balanced sizes of 4, 3, and 3 members—preventing lopsided groups so team sizes never differ by more than 1 person.
Yes—this is a hallmark of true independent probability (often misunderstood due to the 'Gambler's Fallacy'). Each coin flip or dice roll is a memoryless event: even if Heads lands 4 times in a row, the probability of Heads on the 5th toss remains exactly 50%.
While each face on a single die has an equal 1/6 probability, rolling two 6-sided dice creates 36 possible combinations. A sum of 2 can only occur one way (1+1) and 12 only one way (6+6) for a 2.78% chance each, whereas a sum of 7 can be formed in 6 different ways (1+6, 2+5, 3+4, 4+3, 5+2, 6+1), giving it a 16.67% probability.
Once your draw or team split is complete, click the 'Copy' button on the result card to copy the formatted winners or team rosters to your clipboard, or use the 'Download PDF Report' and 'Quick Share / WhatsApp' buttons at the bottom of the layout to distribute a timestamped record.
