Under Budget 2026, the Standard Rate Cut-Off Point is €44,000 for single individuals. For married couples with one income, it is €53,000; and for married couples with two incomes, it extends up to €88,000 (with max transfer of €44,000). Any income above this threshold is taxed at the 40% higher rate.
If total annual income is €13,000 or less, you are completely exempt from USC. When income exceeds €13,000, USC applies progressively: 0.5% on the first €12,012, 2.0% on the next €15,370 (up to €27,382), 3.0% on the next €42,662 (up to €70,044), and 8.0% on any balance exceeding €70,044.
PRSI Class A is charged at 4.10% on gross weekly earnings (exempt if weekly earnings are €352 or less; tapered credit applies between €352.01 and €424.00). Tax credits directly offset your calculated PAYE bill: the Single Person Credit (€2,000) plus Employee PAYE Credit (€2,000) gives €4,000 in non-refundable basic credits.
For employees earning €500 or less per week, the lower employer PRSI rate of 8.90% applies. For weekly earnings exceeding €500, the higher employer PRSI rate of 11.15% applies across all earnings.
